P. Lane Shine II
Quentin was my Grandfather through his only daughter and my Mother Anne Koecher Shine. Although geography and prevailing circumstances fostered a limited relationship with my Grand Dad, most are familiar with and can relate to his calm demeanor. I suppose that can be attributed to a healthy relationship with the Lord. Nonetheless, I will never forget how calm he was or at least appeared to look one afternoon on the freeway, when we were all suddenly confronted with a large couch that had fallen off of a truck in front of us (circa 1984). This was especially remarkable since he was not driving, but rather Carol was (whom was my step Grandmother at the time). Between her swift maneuver to avoid this hazard and his yet even more remarkably calm gesture of commendation towards her for not losing control (i.e. a light pat on the back), I needed to check my pants lol.Thank God for German engineering and thank you Grand Dad for being a role model to me in many ways. None more important as I am finding out that we should have God first in our lives. He is the only One that really matters. I love you Grand Dad. God loves you too and needs you up there with Him now.Love, Lane
