Obituary

Quoc, along with his family, escaped from Vietnam after the fall of Saigon to the communist. After a couple of years of a miraculous journey, including time in a refugee camp in Indonesia, the family arrived in the US. Sponsored first by the Catholic Church and then adopted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church the family began to settle into their new life in Loma Linda. The ladies that taught Sabbath School at the Loma Linda Vietnamese church sponsored all three brothers so they could attend Loma Linda Academy. The challenge that Quoc's parents faced, dealing with many unimaginable hardships, is a true testament to their desire to provide the best life possible for their boys.

Quoc completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Arizona State University in December of 2006. Sunshine completed her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in June of 2006, and on October 21, 2006 in Palm Springs, CA Quoc and Sunshine were married.

In Arizona, Quoc worked for Huntington Learning Center tutoring students in preparation for the SAT and ACT exams and Sunshine began to establish her medical practice. Three short years later Quoc was diagnosed with stage 4 Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma cancer which began his long battle.

Together He and Sunshine tackled the cancer and they threw everything that naturopathic medicine and allopathic medicine could come up with. Given only a short time to live back in 2010, they fought a hard battle, which defied the odds and the professional opinions of many doctors, for over 4 years.

They moved back to California in late 2010 to be close to family and friends. The prayers of friends and family all over the world were offered in his behalf, it was these prayers that gave them hope each and everyday. Even though the last four years have been unbelievably tough they shared a love and a bond that few couples ever experience.

Quoc will have a memorial graveside service at Montecito Memorial Park on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 10:00 A.M.
