Rita Charlene Bouquet, 66, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with John Whitten officiating. The family will visit with friends before the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
Rita was born in Haskell and had lived in Ft. Worth before moving to Abilene in 1948 at the age of 4. She attended South Junior High and graduated from Abilene High School. She was the media coordinator at Hendrick Medical Center for 17 years. Her busy job included arranging for guest speakers and meetings, photographer and setting up programs, hospital certification records, and continuing education classes for doctors and nurses.
Char, as her many friends knew her, was to everyone pleasant, personable, witty and lighthearted. She nurtured people, animals and plants. She was involved with the Humane Society and loved her four cats, Tootie, Poo Bear, Tasha and Chicka, her horse Brady, and her dog Girl. Char loved to read, especially newspapers (front to back). She also loved food, cooking, and camping out. She was a staunch fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, watching all their games. Above all, Char loved her kids, Cindy and Leslie, and her husband and family. The thing she was most proud of was raising her two daughters and making it possible for them to go to college. Char loved simple things, like comfortable clothes and shoes, didn't care to shop, and actually disliked spending money. She will be missed by all.
Char was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Priddy (1991); her mother, Lois Lee Priddy (1994); and her brother, Donald Wayne Allen (1995). Survivors include her husband, Murray Bouquet; daughters, Cindy Crane and Leslie Hallford, all of Abilene; brother, Curtis Lee Priddy of Ft. Worth; sister, Wanda Stevens of Abilene; sister-in-law, Anita Allen; and grandson, Braston Craig Bland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rescue the Animals, 4620 N. 1st, Abilene, TX 79603 or Taylor-Jones-Haskell Humane Society, 3811 N. 1st, Abilene, TX 79603.

"I am so sorry for your loss. The last time I saw Charlene she was a round happy baby girl. May God welcome her to the family of God's children. Gwen..."
