ROBERT A. ALONZO
1941-2014
Robert Alonzo passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5th 2014 surrounded by his family and friends at his home in Van Nuys California.
Robert was born on February 25, 1941, in San Fernando, California to Arnulfo Hernandez Alonzo and Cruz Grijalva - Alonzo. Bob was the fifth of thirteen children to be born into a close and loving family.
Bob was the third generation to be raised in the San Fernando Valley; he attended San Fernando High School. In 1958, he went to work at the famed General Motors plant in Van Nuys turning out quality vehicles. His passion for sleek and fast vehicles was born while working on the assembly line.
Bob enjoyed all aspects of aviation, car racing and traveling the world with his wife, Marilyn. He also loved spending quality time with his extended family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife Marilyn, his four children, Robert, Kelly and Christian and daughter Lori Collins and six grandchildren.
In addition, Bob leaves behind his six brothers, Richard, Michael, Anthony, Arnold, Donald and Mark, and three sisters, Helen, Diana and Olivia.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park, 10621 Victory Bl. North Hollywood California 91606. In lieu of flowers, Marilyn has asked that donations be made to Guide Dogs of America, Sylmar, California in Bob's name.

A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning
By John Donne
As virtuous men pass mildly away,
And whisper to their souls to go,
Whilst some of their sad friends do say
The breath goes now, and some say, No:
So let us melt, and make no noise,
No tear-floods, nor sigh-tempests move;
'Twere profanation of our joys
To tell the laity our love.
Moving of th' earth brings harms and fears,
Men reckon what it did, and meant;
But trepidation of the spheres,
Though greater far, is innocent.
Dull sublunary lovers' love
(Whose soul is sense) cannot admit
Absence, because it doth remove
Those things which elemented it.
But we by a love so much refined,
That our selves know not what it is,
Inter-assured of the mind,
Care less, eyes, lips, and hands to miss.
Our two souls therefore, which are one,
Though I must go, endure not yet
A breach, but an expansion,
Like gold to airy thinness beat.
If they be two, they are two so
As stiff twin compasses are two;
Thy soul, the fixed foot, makes no show
To move, but doth, if the other do.
And though it in the center sit,
Yet when the other far doth roam,
It leans and hearkens after it,
And grows erect, as that comes home.
Such wilt thou be to me, who must,
Like th' other foot, obliquely run;
Thy firmness makes my circle just,
And makes me end where I begun.

Bob, What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived and the lives you touched. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. You will always be remembered.
