Ruth Patricia Wood, a long time resident of Hillsboro, and late of Forest Grove, died Friday evening May 4, 2012 from complications of diabetes. She was born October 16, 1933 in Eugene, Oregon, and was the oldest of four children born to the late Lloyd and Edna (Starr) Herbert. Ruth graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1951. On August 14, 1953 she married James "Jim" Wood. He preceeded her in death on April 4, 1999.
Having worked at many jobs through the years, she was happiest being a homemaker; and, although her interests included hobbies such as quilting, tole painting, making stuffed bears and dolls, her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Kim (Bruce) Mannerow, and her sons Barry (Wendy) Wood and Chris (Lori) Wood; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her sisters Darlene Bailey and Lola Pollard; and her brother Ron Herbert.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Skyline Memorial Gardens. A memorial service willbe held at a later date. The family suggests contributions in lieu of flowers to Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation Diabetes Program, or the charity of your choice.
