RACHEL RENA ROUSE YOUNG
“Who can find a virtuous woman? Her price is far above rubies.”
This verse clearly describes Rachel Rouse Young of North Little Rock who went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 28, 2016.
She was born February 9, 1922 in Carlisle to Noel and Jessie Pearson Rouse. She enjoyed many years as a beautician. She met the love of her life Joe Dean Young on a bus ride to Little Rock. They celebrated 70 years of marriage last March. Rachel was a faithful member of Gaines Street-Olivet-LifeWay Baptist Church where she ministered as a deacon’s wife, participated in the bus ministry, taught Vacation Bible School for many years, chaperoned several youth trips with her husband who drove, and played an active part in the women’s prayer group. However, she considered her crowning achievement teaching Primary 1 & 2 Sunday school for 35 years touching lives of children as she spread seeds of truth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond (Betty) Rouse and Houston “Sonny” (Millie) Rouse, four sisters Flora Mae (James) Edmonson, Flossie “Sis” (Clyde) Holt, Louise (Billy Bob) Scott, and Katherine “Kakie” (David) Wright, and her beloved treasure, son-in-law Mike Stecks. She is survived by her husband Joe, daughter JoAnne Stecks, and is “Memaw” to grandson Michael Jr., granddaughter Ami, great granddaughter Kennedy Stecks of Lonoke, and great, great grandson to be, along with many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Ernestine Trotter one of her caregivers who never tired of singing with Rachel and learning Bible verses. Thank you to Hospice Home Care for their gentle, compassionate attention to her needs. Memorials may be made to LifeWay Baptist Church, 800 Wellington Village Road, Little Rock,2211.
A celebration of her life will be on Friday, December 2, 2016 at LifeWay Baptist Church. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Carlisle Cemetery following the service
