Biography

Ayers, Rae Josephine 88 09/22/1921 03/20/2010 Rae Josephine Ayers passed away peacefully in her sleep March 20, 2010, in Lake Oswego, after a long and active life. She was 88. Born in Klamath Falls to Albert Lee and Lillie Agnes Herrington, Rae was one of four children. On Nov. 1, 1940, she married Charles Edward Ayers as part of a double wedding ceremony with her brother. Rae spent her career as a bookkeeper and accountant for companies in the Portland area. She was also very active in Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she developed many lifelong friends. She and her husband were avid golfers and bridge players. Rae and Charlie had two sons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years; and by two sisters. She is survived by her brother, Robert Herrington of La Conner, Wash.; sons, Donald Edward of Medford and Jerry Ray of Lake Oswego; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, in Ross Hollywood Chapel, 4733 N.E. Thompson Ave., Portland. Remembrances on behalf of Rae may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
