Obituary

Blondie was born on April 19, 1923 in Tucson, Arizona and at the age of 90 years she entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 to be with God and the rest of her family. Mom was nicknamed "Blondie" as a child because of her light hair and very fair complexion. She was the second child in a family of six children, and was 12 years when their mother died. She and her older sister became little homemakers and took over the care of their 18 month old brother and the rest of the children. She was a homemaker and at times worked various jobs and was always a hard-worker. She was very loving and caring and liked family gatherings. Blondie had a great sense of humor and was very quick witted. No matter what the subject was, she always had the last word. She started going blind about 1985 so the radio and CD player became a part of her taking it to all the family gatherings to record the events and has left us with many memories and the recordings she made over the years. She listened to music or Bible CDs all day long, and she loved music concerts including the Mariachi Festivals in Tucson. She had a strong faith in God and believed He would one day return her eyesight, and it came true when she passed into eternal life.

Blondie is survived by her sisters, Antonia Esperanza and Inez Cancio; brother, Fred Tesso; son, Gene "Geno" Perez; daughters, Tima (Dave) Shireman, Rosemarie (Manuel+) Mercado, Norma (Cesar) Reta, Diane (Tom) Wood; 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her long time caregiver Martha Albor whom she considered her #1 "daughter" who catered to her every whim. A special thanks to the other caregivers, including Phyllis, Clarisa and Nora who took very good care of her and treated her as their special Nana.

Visitation will be held at Johnsons Mortuary, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Avenue B at 10:00 a.m. Following the mass, graveside services will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1415 S. 1st Avenue, Yuma. A Celebration of Life reception will be at 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the patio area of the American Legion, 2575 S. Virginia Drive, Yuma.
