Ralph (Wayne) Amos, Jr. passed peacefully in his home on September 14, 2017, in Prairieville, LA. He was surrounded by his family as he transitioned to his heavenly home where he was surely met with open arms by his beloved wife, Teefie. He was 82 years old. Wayne was a soft-spoken gentleman who was known for his devout faith, his generous spirit, and his quiet wisdom. Wayne was a devoted father and husband who was born on September 19, 1934 in Baton Rouge, LA. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1962. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was married to Theresa Bello Amos for 54 years. They lived in Baton Rouge, where Wayne worked as an engineer and "Teefie" stayed home to raise their 6 children. They later moved to Prairieville, LA, in 1973, where they settled for the remainder of their lives. They were both active parishioners at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Wayne was active in many ministries, including the Knights of Columbus, RCIA, Eucharistic ministers and the music ministry. He was also a member of Men of Manresa. His strong faith was a guiding source for his family, and he never missed an opportunity to "share God's love" with others. Wayne is survived by his children, Alan Amos and his wife, Niki, Julie Amos, Daniel Amos, Laurina Conger and her husband, Mark, Eric Amos and his wife, Charlene, Keith Amos and Susan Amos; his grandchildren, David Amos & his wife Melanie, Kelly Davis and her husband Trey, Alyssa Morgan & her husband Drew, Matthew Conger and his wife, Chelsey, Meredith Conger and her fiancé Michael Terry, Maxwell and Michael Conger, and Ryan and Emily Amos; and his great-grandchildren, Madison, Isabella and Morgan Amos, Ivy and Emma Davis, Amelia Conger, Mason Terry and Theo Morgan and his sisters Glenda Amos, Hilda McBride and Louise Enochs, and a brother, August Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Wayne Amos, Sr. and his mother Corinne Voorhies Smith and her husband, Warren Smith, his brother, Dr. Eric Henry Amos, and his cherished wife, Theresa "Teefie" Bello Amos. The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge and Dr. Gerald Barber for their wonderful care and guidance during his illness. Additionally, we would like to extend our gratitude to his personal caregivers Ms. Stephanie Scott, Mrs. Sharonda Wilson, Mrs. Carla Ennis and Mr. Troy Lagarde for their dedication to our father. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 AM Monday, September 18th followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin, to begin at 11:00AM in the church. His body will be interred alongside his beloved wife, Theresa at Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Memorial donations can be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the ALS Foundation.
