Ralph Wilson Pierman, 92 year-old resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away May 11, 2017 at his home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Born Feb. 18, 1925 in Shawnee, OK, he was the son of James William Pierman and Mary Ellen (Perryman) Pierman. Ralph was a decorated WWII Navy veteran who fought in the battles of Luzon and Leyte earning 3 Bronze Stars and a Meritorious Mast serving on LST-471. He was a carpenter who loved spending time with his grandchildren; road trips on I-40; old style country and western music; old western movies; and was a true "Disneyland Dad" having been many times with his wife and children. In his later years his favorite activities were visiting the OKC Zoo and spoiling his cat and dog. He loved being outdoors and was most comfortable in overalls and cowboy boots. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, David Pierman; 1 daughter, Merry Nell Pierman; and 7 siblings. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Wynona Faye (Marker) Pierman of the home; 2 sons, Bobby and his wife Edith Pierman of Sacramento, CA; and Richard Pierman of Midwest City; 7 daughters, Judy and her husband Duane Cummins of OKC; Marsha Wiseman of OKC; Joan and her husband Tom Humphreys of Shawnee, OK; Patricia and her husband Leon Ransom of Boise, ID; Rebekah and her husband Larry Kordisch of OKC; Dorothy Golden of Choctaw, OK; and Alison and her husband David Oshel of Edmond, OK; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Minnie Laura Davis of OKC; and many nieces and nephews. Public memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with a private inurnment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers please donate in Memory of Ralph Wilson Pierman to the OKC Zoological Society, P.O. Box 18423, OKC, OK 73154.
