Ralph J. Adkins, 67, of Spotsylvania County lost his courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, with his family by his side at Kindred Hospital in Richmond, VA.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Patricia Adkins, son Ralph Adkins II and his wife Debora Adkins of Chesterfield, VA and their children Ralph III, Jennifer, Ashley, Andrew, Brandon, Jordynn, McKenzie; daughter Debra Tellier and her husband David Tellier and their children Amber and Ryan of Partlow, VA; daughter Angela Collins and her husband Billy Collins and their children BJ and Tiffany of Ruther Glen, VA; and daughter Cynthia Shipe and her husband Curtis Shipe and their son Blake; sister Rita Plumley and husband Fred Plumley of Hinton, WV; brother Estelle Adkins of Hinton, WV; brother Lloyd Adkins and wife Betty Adkins of Hinton, WV; 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ralph is proceeded in death by his father John Adkins; his mother Hattie Adkins; his brothers John Adkins Jr., Calvin Adkins and Curtis Adkins; his sisters Donnie Berry and Janelle Whitten.
Ralph enjoyed going to watch his grandchildren compete in sports. He was an avid fan of WVU football, Baltimore Orioles, and Washington Nationals.
The family would like to give a heartfelt "Thank You" to the doctors and nurses at Kindred Hospital for the great support and their wonderful care of our beloved husband, father, brother and granddad.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 9 from 11 AM – 1 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel 1621 Jefferson Davis Hwy. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 1 PM. Interment is private.
