Obituary Notice Ramon William "Bill" Chaney, 81, of Union City, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born August 15, 1931 in Ottawa, IL, to Tom and Mildred (Southard) Chaney. Mr. Chaney lived most of his life in the Union City area. He is survived by his children; Ramon "Bill" Chaney, Jr., Elsa Dawn Campbell, Dewey Chaney, Tonia Jean Chaney, John Henry Chaney, Charlene (Bob) Castorr, step-sons; Dean Dolbee, William (Maryanne) Dolbee, Brian Dolbee, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ramon William "Bill" Chaney, 81, of Union City, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born August 15, 1931 in Ottawa, IL, to Tom and Mildred (Southard) Chaney. Mr. Chaney lived most of his life in the Union City area.
He is survived by his children; Ramon "Bill" Chaney, Jr., Elsa Dawn Campbell, Dewey Chaney, Tonia Jean Chaney, John Henry Chaney, Charlene (Bob) Castorr, step-sons; Dean Dolbee, William (Maryanne) Dolbee, Brian Dolbee, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Randall Kent Chaney, brother; Thomas Edward Chaney, sister; Barbara Rudd, wife; Louise Charlene Chaney and daughter, Janet B. Mainstone. Bill was a talented and a creative welder. He owned a locksmith shop in Union City where he was an expert locksmith and a safe technician. He loved NASCAR, and he had been a successful local race car driver. He enjoyed flying Remote Control Airplanes. Bill was an avid gun collector and enthusiast.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
