Obituary

Born in Greensboro, NC, Randall "Randy" Gregg was a rare sort of person, an entrepreneur at heart, a lawyer by schooling, a supporter of those who needed help, an accomplished photographer and a dedicated journalist. He founded eight news publications over the last 15 years, including The Raleigh Telegram, The Sun of Guilford County, The Triangle TechJournal, The Raleigh Downtowner and RTP-TV, to name a few. Randall was an avid boatman and a relentless adventurer who wasn't afraid of doing things his own way. He volunteered as an embedded journalist accompanying the Air Force in Haiti right after the earthquake, covered Hurricane Irene in Pamlico as it happened and wrote thousand of articles in his pursuit to tell the untold story. He was proud to have met four American Presidents, was interviewed on CNN and other national news shows numerous times and published four photography books of his travels and adventures. Randall's kindness was only surpassed by his sense of humor and his effortless way of making everyone around him smile.
He was a 44-year-old kid at heart when he passed on April 25, 2014, enjoying one of his favorite pastimes of riding motorcycles. He is survived by his mother and father, Grace and Stewart Gregg of the Greensboro area, and brothers Crash and Eric of Raleigh. He leaves behind a legacy of journalistic and philanthropic accomplishments and a large group of friends and family around the globe who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 11:00am at Summerfield Baptist Church, located at 2300 Scalesville Rd, Summerfield, NC 27358. In lieu of flowers, a contributing fund has been set up in Randall's name at www.crowdrise.com/randallgregg
