Randall Silverberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 14, 2013.

Randall Jay Silverberg "Randy", born in Jacksonville, Florida on December 7, 1950 to Dr. Arnold and Ann Silverberg, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2013.
Randy was predeceased by his parents and sister Lauren Rothstein. Randy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cindy Goldsmith-Silverberg. He is also survived by his two children, Arnie and Alex Silverberg, and his brother, Dr. Richard Silverberg.
Randy immensely enjoyed following Gator sports--being a Gator football season ticket holder for over 25 years-and frequented the Jax Beach fishing pier with his dear cousin, Leonard Selber. He was a dedicated Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 14 at the Jacksonville Jewish Center for 18 years. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, children, and his family and friends.
Randy, a graduate of the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University Law School, practiced law for over 35 years. During that time, his practice was fueled by his desire to seek justice for his clients and help them in any conceivable way. Monetary gain was never a concern.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Jacksonville Jewish Center, located at 3662 Crown Point Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32257 with Rabbi Jesse Olitzky officiating, followed by burial at New Center Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be sent to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, or to the Jacksonville Jewish Center.

Dear family,
I spent time with Randy and some of you while he was at the McGraw Center. I was one of the volunteers there. I really enjoyed Randy's company and charm. He was very special, and I appreciate the time I spent with him and each one of you that I met. I want to express my sympathy especially to his daughter, Alex, whom I talked to a lot while I was there... about Gator football, of course! Also to Mrs. Silverberg, and all of the rest of the family, my deepest sympathies are with you.

I just today learned that Randy had passed on. I knew Randy professionally for many years. One of his more endearing traits was his refusal to act like the stereotypical lawyer. He was always cheerful and upbeat, and it was contagious to those around him. He will be missed, and I am truly sorry for your loss, Cindy.

I'm very sad to hear of Randy's passing. I was always impressed by his mild and friendly nature, from the time 20 years ago when I was parking at the Blackstone lot and looked up to wave at him, only to then smack my car into the front of his - he was very good natured about it - no harm done! I was always very happy to encounter him and chat with him over the years. He was a hard working, benign and good spirit. All my condolences to Cindy, and to the rest of his family. We'll miss you, Randy.
