Raquel S. Alvarez, age 69, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away on September 13, 2011. She was born in Cuba and immigrated to the U.S. in 1949 with her late parents Felix and Virginia Hernandez.
Raquel grew up in Miami, Florida, graduating from Miami Senior High School where she met her husband of 50 years, Vicente. She is survived by: her husband; son Vicente Jr.; son John M. (wife Cory and grandchildren Alexis, Austin and Aubrey); daughter Alisa; and other loving family members.
Raquel was a resident of Palm Beach Gardens since 1968, where she was involved in the early days of the Palm Beach Gardens Youth Athletic Association, as both an officer and very supportive mother and fan. She was a founding member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, and worked as a secretary at Palm Beach Gardens Community High School.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother and good friend to all that knew her.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Howard-Price Funeral Home, 754 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, where a prayer service will be held. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 17, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. Dear Vince and family,
My depest sympathy in your loss of Raquel. We go way back from the time our children played ball on all of the Palm Beach Gardens ballfields. Our Saturday's were spent all day at Plant Drive in the conscession stand.
Those are very good memories that will never be forgotten.
