Ray E. "Skipper" Carson, 66, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Saint Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 25th at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Skipper's Family wants to acknowledge and thank the staff of Shawnee Hills Senior Living Center for the exemplary care they gave him. Ray E. "Skipper" Carson, 66, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Saint Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Skipper was born December 28, 1946 in Marshall, Missouri, and spent his early childhood years in Storm Lake, Iowa, before moving to Kansas City, Kansas, where he resided most of his life. After his retirement, Skipper moved to Edwards, Missouri (Lake of the Ozarks), where he lived until his return to the Kansas City Area in 2011. He worked for Colgate–Palmolive for 27 years, before he retired as a Dryer Operator in 2005. While at Colgate-Palmolive he received their "You Can Make a Difference Award" for an innovative idea he thought of, which saved the company money. He was a long-time member of OCAW, and then PACE International Union, Local 5-0114. Skipper served as a Machinist in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6654, and he loved hunting, fishing, boating, reading books and playing video poker. Skipper was also an avid fan of Kansas City Chiefs Football and University of Kansas Basketball.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Speed, and a sister, Patricia Crawford.

Survivors include his sister, Lisa Couts & her husband Fred of Shawnee, Kansas; 2 nieces, Megan Marshall & her husband Eric of Shawnee, Kansas, and Tori Jo Couts of Shawnee, Kansas; an aunt, Georgia Jane Williams of Shawnee, Kansas; and numerous cousins and friends.
