Ray Wagner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2013.

Ray Wagner, 77, of San Angelo passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2013. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Friday, April 12, 2013 at Johnson's Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dick Griffith and Rev. Walt Landers officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
He was born December 12, 1935 in Hondo, New Mexico. He graduated from Lake View High School and attended Howard College, Sam Houston State University and Life Christian University. He married Winona Walker on July 16, 1966 and they shared 46 beautiful years together. Ray, a man of tremendous integrity and forthrightness, served the city of San Angelo as a police officer for 28 years, retiring as a Sergeant from the force in 1996. He also served as an elder at TLC Church for many years. Ray has served others, given faithfully and been an inspiration to many.
Ray enjoyed being outside, tending the land and his animals, his garden and was an amazing handyman. He was a loving and devoted husband father and grandfather and we will dearly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Beulah Wagner, and his brothers, Archie, Earl, Odell and Freddie Wagner. He is survived by his wife, Winona Wagner, of San Angelo; 2 Daughters, Janilla Wagner, of San Angelo and Vernona McCrea and her husband Mark, of San Angelo; 2 sons, Orville Wagner and his wife Elva, of Fort Worth, TX, and David Gleaton and his wife Christie, of Odessa, TX; his Grandchildren, Logan, Lexis, Elizabeth and Aubrey; and his two Sisters, Herlie Smith McDonald, of San Angelo and Johnnie Blacklock and her husband Carroll, of San Angelo.

Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God.
Matthew 5:8
