Raymond Bearden Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 12, 2014.

Bearden, Raymond "Buddy," age 68, passed peacefully on February 11, 2014.
He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a graduate of Rule High School, class of '64. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, as an Air Force Radar Control Operator. He reunited with, and in 1998 married, his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, Edith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise Bearden, as well as Eddie Pittman and Eva Stiles. He is survived by his wife, Edith; step-children, Kim Cox, Jeff Stevens (wife, Laura), Tiffanie Sloan (husband, Greg); sisters, Wanda Pittman (husband, Gary Call), Linda Smith (husband, Stormy), Barbara Stiles, Sue Allen (husband, Charles Ray); brothers, "Dub," Rick (wife, Pat), Terry; eight very beloved, special grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 15th 12:00 – 2:00 pm at Weaver Funeral Home. Funeral service 2:00 pm, Pastor Jeff Stevens and Preacher Timothy Gupton officiating. Interment to follow at New Gray Cemetery.
Arrangements by Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Avenue (588-3868). Condolences may be left at www.weaverfuneralservices.com

Hello Old Man, my pet name for you in your suffering days. If I were coming to see you and I wasn't there when you thought I should be, my phone would ring, ring, ring. If I were walking from my car into the nursing home, I kept you on the phone, until I walked into your room. At that time, you would simply say bye and I would say bye. We both hung up laughing. Talking about Jesus, we did talk about Jesus. I believed you hungered to be saved. After asking my preacher to visit with you and you learned how to tell if you were saved, you finally told me: The most important thing in you life was Jesus. Oh, at the times I left there crying because you hurt so bad, or I was feeling sorry for myself, I was very aware that you were saved. You loved my grandchildren, and they would come sing I'll Fly Away and you and I would sing right along. The Old Man was gone, the new man appeared. You went peacefully. I love you and I will miss you. Someday we will meet again, until then I love you so so much.

Buddy, I will miss you so much! I will never forget the time I spent my spring break with you! I think about how you wouldn't let me watch TV at night because you said it would wake you up. I think its funny now. I used to laugh at you and I would get so excited when mom would say you were coming to stay at the house. I usually could get you to buy me anything. LOL! I want you know that I love you and I know you are home with Jesus and having a great time up there in Heaven. I know you may not remember them but my Mother and Papaw are up there and I know you have seen them please tell them I love them and I miss them. I will see you again! Love you!
Love always,
Your Niece Tania
