Raymond Brasells Obituary

Raymond E. Brasells, 92, of Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Ethel (Nickerson) Brasells to whom he had been married for 56 years.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joseph and Maria (Correia) Brasells, he was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth.

He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon.

Mr. Brasells was a Union Carpenter employed with Perini Construction Company until his retirement in 1983.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, metal detecting, furniture refinishing and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Raymond E. Brasells Jr. and Joseph R. Brasells both of FL and Ernest W. Brasells and Paul R. Brasells both of Dartmouth; one daughter, Nancy A. Brasells of Dartmouth; one sister Dorothy Belanger of CA; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Lopes, Rose Khuns, Helen King, Lillian Salvador and Joseph, John, Frank and George Brasells.

His funeral will be held on Friday March 12, 2010 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a funeral mass at 10am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Visiting hours on Thursday from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Transition House, 20 Willis St., New Bedford, MA 02740. Burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
