Raymond Davis Claypoole, 83, of Maysville died Friday, October 25, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY. He was the widower of Opal Carolyn Claypoole who died July, 29, 1991. Mr. Claypoole was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army, was a member of the May's Lick Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2734, the American Legion and was formerly engaged in farming. He was born in May's Lick, KY on August 13, 1930 the son of the late Stanley and Emma Robb Claypoole. He is survived by his two sons, Phil Claypoole (Allison) of Louisville, KY and Mark Claypoole of Covington, KY; his daughter, Bonnie Claypoole of Fleming County, KY; Six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Claypoole and Jerry Claypoole both of Richmond, KY and three sisters, Velma Bellamy of Flemingsburg, KY, Sue Manning of Manchester, OH and Mary Davis of Ohio. Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Claypoole and two sisters, Betty Ann Claypoole and Caroyln Idle. Funeral services for Raymond Claypoole will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 with Rev. Tony Liess officiating. Entombment will be in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories Mausoleum with military honors by the Simon Kenton VFW Post 2734. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 2734, PO Box 463, Maysville, KY 41056.
