Raymond Clarence Drasbek, 87, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1926 in Portland to the late James and Sanna Drasbek. Ray graduated from Franklin High School, and at age 17, joined the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He married Thelma Ann Nelson on January 24, 1953 in Vancouver, Washington, and they were inseparable until her passing in 2011. Ray lived in the Portland for most of his life, except for 25 years he and Thelma lived in Redmond, Oregon. He retired after many years as a Lieutenant for the Port of Portland Police. Raymond Clarence Drasbek, 87, of Gresham, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1926 in Portland to the late James and Sanna Drasbek. Ray graduated from Franklin High School, and at age 17, joined the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He married Thelma Ann Nelson on January 24, 1953 in Vancouver, Washington, and they were inseparable until her passing in 2011. Ray was a man of many loves and talents. He was a great cook, enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, making wine, and many other creative endeavors. He had an impeccable taste for fine scotch, loved to travel, and had a brilliant sense of humor. Among his travels were three trips with Thelma across the United States, visiting all 48 continental states. They also visited Disneyland a total of 17 times, and DisneyWorld in Florida 3 times! Ray loved dogs more than most things, even so much as to say "Never trust a man your dog doesn't like."

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Raye Ann Yapp; son Dani Drasbek; granddaughters Maryann and Kaylee Drasbek.

Ray will be placed to rest back at his wife's side at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
