Raymond Gerald Johnston, 71, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Fort Smith. He was a retired Army Sergeant, Army veteran of the Vietnam War and member of the River Valley Church of the Nazarene.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with inurnment at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Okim Johnston of the home; one son, James L. Johnston of Arizona; two daughters, Joy Hubbard of Van Buren and Monica Slate of Fort Smith; one brother, James Johnston of California; four sisters, Reba Bray, Mary Schneider and Floy Tally all of Greenwood and Isabell Plymale of Poteau and four grandchildren.
