Raymond Robert Lawson, 95, of 620 Mountain Mist Drive in Martinsville, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville after a short illness. He was born in Stokes County, NC, April 24, 1917 to Gabe L. Lawson and Lela Hall Lawson. He served in the Army during WWII and later joined the Air Force from which he retired. He also worked for Martinsville Novelty Company where he was a foreman. He was a charter member of Landmark Baptist Church in Collinsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters and a granddaughter, Robin Hadgkiss.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his wife, Mamie Dove Lawson of the residence; three daughters, Linda A. Hadgkiss of Rocky Mount, Teresa L. Hardee of Bassett and Peggy J. Martin of Hamilton, Ohio; one son, R. Glen Lawson of Martinsville; one sister, Ida Stowe of Eden, NC; one brother, Paul Lawson of Eden, NC; seven grandchildren, Rick Hadgkiss, Brandy L. Lowe, Krista Hardee, Randy Martin, Kimberly Martin, Anne Morrison, Felisha Mellott and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. J. D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Dove Family Cemetery with full Military Honors.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at McKee-Stone Funeral Home.
