Raymond "Alden" Pendery, 86, previously of Chesterfield, MO born in New York City to Robert & Maurine Pendery, raised in Ft. Worth, TX passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta, GA on 5/10/14. Beloved husband of 51 years to Sue Pendery, loving father to Rick, Paul, Carol & David; dear father-in-law to Angie, William & Heather; dear grandfather to Adam, Heather, Kelsah (Chad), Rafferty (Hana-li), David, Ross, Connor & Chapman; dear great grandfather to Emmitt, Calder & Ella; dear "little" brother to Pat Reeves; dear uncle to Karen (Mike) & Brad (Tanna) and dear friend to many. Beloved husband of 51 years to Sue Pendery, loving father to Rick, Paul, Carol & David; dear father-in-law to Angie, William & Heather; dear grandfather to Adam, Heather, Kelsah (Chad), Rafferty (Hana-li), David, Ross, Connor & Chapman; dear great grandfather to Emmitt, Calder & Ella; dear "little" brother to Pat Reeves; dear uncle to Karen (Mike) & Brad (Tanna) and dear friend to many. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Monday, May 19th and visitation prior to service at 11am. Location is Gerber Chapel, 23 West Lockwood Ave., Webster Groves, Missouri 63119. Burial will take place at National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. Memorial service will be held in Atlanta, GA at a future date.


R. Alden Pendery's many accomplishments & hobbies in addition to his loving family life include:

1) Navy Lieutenant – WWII & Korean War
2) Oklahoma University alumni – Degree in Electrical Engineering
3) Oklahoma City University – Graduate studies in Business Administration
4) Loved to fly – Owned & operated his own plane
5) Loved to play golf – Once golfed with Arnold Palmer!
6) Loved to dance – Never turned down a lady on the dance floor
7) Loved to captain his own ski boat
8) His passion was drumming. Played in numerous bands; Shrine, Big Band & Jazz
9) Deacon – Highlands Christian Church, Dallas, TX
10) President of Richardson Texas Independent School Board
11) President Boy Scouts – Greater New Orleans Council
12) Received Silver Beaver Award for distinguished volunteer service 1975
13) Texas Governors Committee on Vocational & Technical Education – Member
14) United Way - Division Chairman
15) New Orleans Chamber of Commerce – Chairman Business Committee
16) Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club & Lifetime Telephone Pioneers Member
17) Retired Executive-Board of Directors for Southwestern Bell after 37 ½ years
Career started in Oklahoma City and took him to Houston, Ft. Worth, Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA & retired in St. Louis, MO.
18) In retirement he loved to garden
19) Traveled worldwide with his beloved wife Sue
20) Participant of Plymouth Harbor (Central Congregational United Church of Christ) for 9 years - Atlanta, GA
