Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2013.

Raymond D. Saxe III passed away on Saturday, June 1, at Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle, New York. He was 50 years old.

Known to his friends and family as "Ray," he was born in New York City on November 14, 1962, to R. Daniel Saxe, Jr., of Winchester, Virginia, and JoAn Teetor Saxe, of New Castle, Indiana, and New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in Scarsdale, New York, where he attended Scarsdale High School, graduating in 1980. He received a BS in electrical engineering from the University of Bridgeport in 1985, and an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 1990. After working in systems engineering and project management for fifteen years at Deutsche Bank AG, he moved to HSBC, where he was Senior Vice President in charge of global risk technology for the Americas, and later Senior Vice President/Global Head for client onboarding.

He was married to Naomi Reinitz, also of Scarsdale, New York, and lived in Rye Brook, New York. They have three daughters: Amanda, Abigail, and Rachel. Ray was a devoted husband and father, and he loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved skiing, tennis, a good mystery, and the Grateful Dead. He was an excellent drummer, and he was thrilled and proud when one of his daughters decided to take up the drums too. One of his favorite times of the year was his family's annual summer vacation at Lake George, in the Adirondacks. He has requested that his ashes be scattered there.

He is survived by his ex-wife Naomi Reinitz Saxe, of Rye Brook, New York; his daughters, Amanda, Abigail, and Rachel; his sister Emily Saxe Nydam of Wellesley, Massachusetts; and his mother JoAn Teetor Marder of Tucson, Arizona. There was a private memorial service for family and friends at Congregation Kneses Tifereth Israel in Port Chester, New York, officiated jointly by Rabbi Jaymee Alpert and The Reverend Dr. John W. Miller of Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale. There will also be a memorial plaque placed in his memory at the Teetor Mausoleum in Hagerstown, Indiana. He was loved and will be missed.

Although I lost touch with Ray after High School, I remember many great times on and off the drum line together. Ray had a wonderful sense of humor, a healthy questioning of authority, and a great capacity for adventure that will continue to inspire. I offer my condolences to all his family and friends at this time. ..and peace to you, Ray. “The drum beats out of time…”
