SCITUATE - Raymond W. Sisk, 92, of Scituate passed into Heaven on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mildred A. (O'Keefe) Sisk, his daughter and son-in-law Maryanne and Dan Irish of Hookset, NH, and son Raymond W. (Bill) Sisk, Jr. of Tucson, AZ.

Ray was born in Arlington and grew up in West Medford. He was predeceased by his parents Charles M. Sisk and Mary F. (Martin) Sisk, and his brother Charles F. Sisk. He was educated in the Medford public schools, graduated from Boston College in 1943, and Boston College Law School in 1948.

Ray served in the United States Marine Corps in the Second World War from 1944 through 1946. He was called back during the Korean War and served in the Reserves until 1959, retiring at the rank of Major. He served as a pilot and then as an attorney in the Advocate General Department of the Marine Corps. In both wars, Ray served with ballplayer Ted Williams, and was cited in three recent biographies on Williams' life.

Ray worked in the insurance industry and was retired in 1987. His latter positions were with The Home Insurance Company and Sisk, Talutis, and O'Neil.

He was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Nativity Church since 1957, and served as an usher for many years at the 10:00AM Mass. He was a member of the committee that established the St. Vincent de Paul conference at St. Mary's and other parishes on the South Shore, and was on the Parish Council and the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the Scituate Knights of Columbus, where he spent many late nights at the annual summer carnival in Cole Parkway in the accounting trailer.

Ray was active in Scituate town affairs, serving for many years on the Advisory Board and later as a Library Trustee. He donated many hours of legal service to committees, organizations, neighbors, friends, and family over his lifetime.

After retiring, Ray and Mildred were active in the Scituate Country Club, where they loved to meet friends and play golf. They were involved with the "9-Holers," and helped organize the Club's annual winter event in Florida. For several years, they spent winters at Vista Pines in Stuart, FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary of the Nativity in Scituate Harbor on Saturday, May 31st at 11AM. It will be followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, and a reception at the Parish Center. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend any or all of these celebrations of Ray's life.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Raymond W. Sisk to the St. Mary of the Nativity Conference of St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Mary of the Nativity, 1 Kent St., Scituate, MA 02066. Ray was passionate about the Society's work in the community for those in need.
