On June 11th, 2013, Raymond N. Winner Sr., of Houston, TX, was called to walk with the Lord. Raymond was born in Frostburg, Maryland on September 9th, 1932 to Emma and Raymond C. Winner. Raymond was the oldest of five boys. As a young adult, he found the kindness in his heart to live on very little so he could send most of his earning back home to help support his younger siblings. Upon enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard, he was stationed in Galveston, Texas. It was there that he met Jo Ann Johnson. On June 26, 1955, Raymond and Jo Ann were joined together in holy matrimony. For 58 years, they stood side by side, proving to be an incredible union. Raymond is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Winner of Houston, TX; daughter, Jill and her husband Glenn Doremus of Houston, TX; son, Raymond Winner Jr. and wife Diane of Round Rock, TX.; two grandsons, Ronnie Winner and wife Serrina of Round Rock, TX, Bobby Winner and wife Heather of Round Rock, TX. He is blessed with 4 great-granddaughters which truly brightened his life, Sierra, Savanna, Kali and Alexa, all of Round Rock,TX. He is survived by two brothers, George Winner and wife Nancy, of Export, PA and Ed Winner and Margaret Jane, of Frostburg, MD; Sister-in-laws Carolyn Winner of Jeffersonville, ID, Teresa Winner of Frostburg, MD, and Shirley Pennington of Kemah, TX. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Emma Winner; brothers Harry Winner and William "Bill" Winner.
The Winner family wants to recognize the extraordinary efforts put forth by Darrin Winner, Cliff Kitten, and the great staff of doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at North Cypress Medical Center. They showed extreme professionalism and compassion in his final days of his fight to live. For that, we offer you a heart filled "Thank You."
Memorial services for Raymond will be held at Pat H. Foley & Co. Funeral Home, 1200 W 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018. Visitation will be Friday evening, June 14th, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral will be held the following morning, Saturday June 15th, at 10:00 am.

I'm blessed that I had the honor of meeting such a wonderful loving man. A man who made sure his family was taken care of and always had a smile on his face. I remember how proud he was to show his pictures of his family and talk about the old days. One of my favorite things about him. Thanking you for welcoming me to your family and sharing your wonderful memories with me. You will always be in our hearts and prayers. We love you Grand-Pap

We are so blessed to be able to know and be apart of such an amazing life. I have learned so much from this most thoughtful, unselfish man. I have always been as proud to call him my Grandfather as he was to call me his Grandson. I love and miss him dearly, but find strength in knowing I will be with him again one joyful day.
