Vinton- Reaux Francis Frederick, 88, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013, in a local hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Abbeville and had been a resident of Vinton for over 50 years. Reaux was a World War II U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran and had also received the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of VFW Post #9854 and American Legion Post #208 in Vinton and also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Vinton- Reaux Francis Frederick, 88, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013, in a local hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born and raised in Abbeville and had been a resident of Vinton for over 50 years. Reaux was a World War II U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran and had also received the Purple Heart Award. He was a member of VFW Post #9854 and American Legion Post #208 in Vinton and also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Odalie "Dolly" Frederick; his children, Lisa Fontenot and husband, Craig, Thomas Frederick and wife, Wendy, Ricky Frederick and wife, Tina, Julie Berry and husband, Jerry, and Gerald Frederick, all of Vinton, Sheila Douga and husband, Darty, and Damien Frederick and wife, Marsha, all of Sulphur, Jimmy Frederick of Lake Charles, Mary Frederick of Houston, Texas, Phyllis Steelman and husband, Dan of Jefferson City, Missouri, Denis Frederick and wife, Tammy of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Paul Frederick and wife, Loretta of Orange, Texas, and John Frederick and wife, Marcia of Bradenton, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Frederick, wife of Roger; his eight siblings; twenty-four grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Augustia and Nola Frederick; his two sons, Robert and Roger Frederick; and daughter-in-law, Cherie Frederick, wife of Gerald.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 28, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
