Rena Lorelle Reeves, age 73, left this earth on June 14, 2017, at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. She is survived by her loving daughter Rachel R. Maddox; sister, Anita Himber (Bob); brother, Jim Hodge, (Karen) and nephews and niece. She is preceded in death by her son, Cecil Harold Reeves III and her parents, James E. and Evelyn M. Hodge.



She graduated from Antioch High School, Middle Tennessee State and Tennessee State University receiving Masters Degrees. Lorelle taught for 36 years in the Metro Nashville School System at North and Hillsboro High School. Teaching was her hearts calling and “Mama Reeves” touched the lives of thousands of students throughout her career. She was a Career Ladder III Educator, instructor for the Governor’s School for Writing and received the Teacher of Excellence Award. Lorelle was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma receiving the Order of the Rose Award, SMOTJ, Teachers Study Council, and attended Unity Church. Lorelle was an accomplished storyteller and was invited to perform at the Jonesborough Festival.



Lorelle loved her family and friends bringing joy and laughter to everyone. She will be remembered for her love of life, kindness of heart and unquenchable spirit. Her life was a story worth telling and she “acted her part well”.



Visitation is June 17 from 1 to 3 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Jon McLean will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lorelle's life. The family would like to thank Dusty Sutton, Avalon Hospice, Gretchen Santiago, Susan Jaco, Andrea Williams, Briana Bailey, Christy Edmonds and Kayla Harris for their love and support.
