REXFORD ARTHUR BODA (MAY 9, 1933¬–AUGUST 4, 2017)

On Friday, August 4, 2017, Dr. Rexford Arthur Boda entered into the presence of his Savior at home in Kissimmee, Florida at 84 years of age. His passing was a peaceful one at home with Jean, his beloved wife of 59 years. His family finds great comfort in the fact that he entered into the presence of his Savior and is now part of God's forever family in heaven.

He was born May 9, 1933 in Ithaca NY to the late Willard and Barbara Boda. At heart, Rex was one who deeply loved his God, family, friends, church and community. Husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Rex is lovingly remembered by his wife, Jean, and their seven children. Kim (Dave) Williams, Matt (Jamie), Mark (Beth), Mike (Heather), Tim (Christy), Kristal (Dan) Templin and Keri (Jon) Waring, along with 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his 7 siblings, Ernie (Joyce), Joy (the late Ed) Hall, Judy (Jeff) Spurling, Daisy (Bob) Wallace, Fred (Linda), Dottie (the late Steve) Rice, Dollie (Mike) LeJeune, nieces and nephews.

Rex was a farmer, wrestler, teacher and leader. Each of these were of great interest to him throughout his lifetime. Many of his stories focused on these four areas of activity. He was a graduate of the Ithaca High School, Cornell University, Nyack College, Cortland State University, Westminster Theological Seminary and Canadian Theological Seminary. With a deep commitment to ministry training and theological education over the course of a lifetime, Rex proudly served the Dryden, New York school district; Canadian Bible College/Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina, Saskatchewan; Nyack College/Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York; and Westminster Seminary in Glenside, Pennsylvania.

A celebration of Rex's life will take place at Good Samaritan Community Church in Kissimmee, Florida on Saturday, August 12th, 2017 at 10 a.m., with a luncheon to follow in the Village Community Center. The address for Good Samaritan Village is 1650 Westgate Dr. Kissimmee, FL 34746. https://goo.gl/maps/qASnGjEDRzn Directions to the church will be given at the front gate. A memorial/graveside service will take place in the Ithaca, New York area on a date to be set for this fall. Photos, memories and condolences can be shared with Rex's family by emailing: [email protected]. The family would love to hear from any and all who knew Rex.

I am sorry to read of Mr. Boda's passing. My sincerest condolences to the entire Boda family. Mr Boda was my 9th grade geography teacher at Dryden Central School during the 1962-1963 school year. He was a good teacher and I enjoyed his class very much.
May God's peace and grace be with you all during this difficult time.
Kindest regards,

Please accept my condolences. Know that the God of comfort feels your pain and sorrow. Isaiah 61:1,2 reads: "He sent me (Jesus Christ) to bind up the brokenhearted, ... and To comfort all who mourn, ..."

I'm going to miss the frequent greeting, "Where's 'de-nephew'?" whenever he saw me. Will always cherish memories of my Uncle Rex and his role in our family. Praying for Aunt Jean and everyone as we grieve his loss but rejoice in knowing He anticipated his Home Going and was ready!

Love to the whole Boda clan. Gay Nell and I reflected for some time on Rex's impact on our lives and the warmth we have always felt from each of you. May the consolation of Jesus be yours.

My heart is desperately grieving over the loss of my big brother! He always made me feel special reminding me often that he remembered when I was born. He was an amazing spiritual leader in our family teaching me to memorize my first bible verse at a young age! I was so proud to be his little sister. I'm so glad we had a meaningful phone conversation just a few days before his passing giving me the opportunity to tell him that I love him and hear him say he loved me! Missing you Rex but know you're enjoying your Lord and Savior Jesus and being reunited with Mom and Dad and many others who have gone before! I'm keeping Jean, their children and their families in my thoughts and prayers! Love you all!!!!

Dear Jean and family,
We wish to extend our sincere sympathy on the passing of your wonderful husband/father/grandfather/great grandfather Rex. We have warm recollections of past associations with Rex, especially for three years (1967-70) as CBC faculty colleagues and later, as a member of CBC/CTS's Board of Governors. What a fine, far-reaching impact Rex had--and will continue to have--through his family and his friends.
May the Lord continue to comfort and sustain you during these difficult days of grieving Rex's death. Do continue to be comforted as you reflect on Rex's wonderfully positive impact, not only on his extended family but also on his friends, like ourselves, who were privileged to know him.
With sincere sympathy.

Thoughts and prayers to the entire Boda family for the loss of Rex. What an amazing man who seemed to get it right. I'm sure the Lord greeted him with 'Welcome home my son ... Well done my good and faithful servant'.

The care, interest, value I experienced from Rex when a student, staff member at CBC/CTS, and in recent years whenever we met up I Regina, Calgary or elsewhere have meant so much. Rex lived out lively, energetic commitment to Christ in all areas of his life, influencing many of us, who watched and observed, how to live well and for eternity. Thank you, Rex and Jean, for being heroes to model my life after. Jean and Boda clan, may you know gracious comfort as you continue on your journey that will one day reunite you with the very special man and servant of Christ.

I cannot express the depth of the sorrow that I have felt since I received news of Rex's homegoing. He touched my life in numerous and profound ways. I am so very grateful for the opportunity to have known him. I do not that there is a significant transition in my life where he did not act, in some way, as my counsel and my mentor. Indeed, it is because of his influence that I will not be able to join you all, who I cherish so much, at the memorial. At that very time, I will be lecturing on Alliance history and theology in S

Rex was bigger than life for me. You see I was born when he started his 1st year in college. All I knew was my older brothers and sisters looked to him as their hero. And in time he also became one of my heros. To me there was a presence of authority in Christ that made me feel safe and that our family was safe. I am brought back to a memory when I took a bad spill on my bike and was laying at the bottom of our driveway and Rex was there in an instant scooping me up to safety. So loved him. Will feel a hole with him not being here on earth. Dottie Boda Rice.

Hard to imagine our Boda clan without Uncle Rex. Will always remember a phone call I received from him during a rough spot in life. It meant so much, especially since my own father had already passed. He sure knew how to make you feel special.

Prayers to all as you celebrate his life! Love all of you!

We are so sorry to hear of Rex's passing. Rex had a significant effect on our lives and will not be forgotten. He had an amazing capacity to remember stats, which always amazed me (Bev). He was a true example of someone who loved God and loved all those around him, wanting to make a difference in our world. He will truly be missed!

My retail career took our family to Regina, SK in 1983. We had the pleasure of getting to know Rex and Jean, became friends and socialized with them in our home and their's on numerous occasions. Their daughter, Kristal, who was the same age as our daughter Lori-Anne along with Joni Richards and Anita Hartsfeld were friends and spent many hours at our home. We have many fond memories of the Bodas. Want Jean and the family to know you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time!

Rex was an awesome big brother who made us feel special, taught us much about life and God, exemplified how to walk in deep valleys with grace and godliness. Our family has lost a giant and it is difficult to even fathom family gatherings without our eldest sibling and spokesman. Rex and Jean were an amazing couple showing others how to love and live the way Jesus wanted.

Circa 1970, Rex eagerly entered a debate at the U of Regina, let the pro-abortion speaker go first, then got up and announced that he was going to cheat... he showed pictures! He knew what he believed, and why. And he did it in a way that made everyone respect and like him.
Rex was a wonderful teacher, a man that you wanted as a friend, and a man that you wish to emulate.
Edith and I offer our sincere condolences to Jean and the rest of the family.
Shalom

Rex was one of my favorite profs. The man was godly, brilliant, funny, and personable. It was a challenge to get the grades i wanted, but well worth it. He forced me to think, and was not content to accept the status quo.

When we first arrived in Saskatchewan in January of 1970, our first meal in Regina was in Rex & Jean Boda's home...where my 2 yr old son lost his dinner before the rest of us had finished ours.

We will always remember the authentic grace exhibited to us
The Church on earth has lost an outstanding trooper.
