Sara and Audrey, I am so sorry for your loss! I have great memories of the times Rick and I and all the staff had together working on the high school yearbook. Whatever words he was given, he brought to life with his art. His pictures literally spoke a thousand words. He was so gifted. I feel honored to call him my friend. May God grant you peace. Ann

Sara and Audrey, I am so sorry for your loss. Rick was a friend that had a tremendous talent. Please take some measure of comfort in knowing that at at this very instant a child is learning to read while looking at Rick's playful illustrations, a teen is reading a biography with illustrations that were as historically accurate as Rick could make them or someone is looking at one of his works and and is full of admiration for his artistic ability. The legacy he leaves is that for years to come others will admire and appreciate his life's work. I think that would please him immensely.

Sara, Audrey, and family. We are so saddened at Rick's passing. Your loss, is also our loss. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that Rick touched many, many people through his art. I know that right now it feels like all of the air has been sucked out of the room, but I hope you can also take some comfort in knowing that he is no longer hurting, and in pain, but is at peace. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Steve and Melinda Current

My wife, Julea and I were very saddened to hear of Rick's passing. We were all close during high school and as members of Arkansas City's High School year book staff, interacted daily in creating an award-winning publication, in large part due to Rick's amazing talent as a budding artist. As best friends, Rick and I navigated the pitfalls and opportunities of adolescence in the late sixties and early seventies as were experienced by most teenagers of our generation. We cruised Main Street in my Volkswagen, talked about girls, struggled to look cool and found sanctuary in our respective interests of art and music. Although our lives diverged after high school, separated by miles and different career paths, I followed his success and marveled at his intrinsic gift, expressing views of life through illustration and the boundless possibilities he explored through his art. Most of all, Rick was a good man. That's what we'll miss the most. Devon and Julea Rock
