Richard C. Haight, age 86, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Watkins Glen, NY, passed away on June 3, 2016 at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital, New Port Richey, FL.
He was born in Montour Falls on April 26, 1930. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Helen Haight, and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Carl Lederman. He is survived by a son Mike Haight (Norman, OK), a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bobbie Estes (Watkins Glen), grandchildren, Matthew Estes, Aaron Haight, Marissa Haight, Kara Haight, and great grandson Lucas Haight.
Dick graduated from Watkins Glen High School in 1948. He then proudly served in the United States Navy from 1948 until 1953 (including a little over a year of sea duty). He was married for many years to Mary Lou Emmons Haight. He retired from Shepard Niles Crane and Hoist, Montour Falls, NY.
He was a member of the Watkins Glen Presbyterian Church, the Watkins Glen Fire Department, the Watkins Glen Elks Lodge, and a life member of the American Legion.
He was a member of the Appleknockers Drum and Bugle Corps and then was very involved in the establishment and continued support of the Squires Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and working at the race track.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
