Richard Charles Figurell passed away on March 9th, 2017. Ric was born in Verona, New Jersey on May 20th, 1940. He was born to Jim and Phil Figurelli. He graduated from Lagoon High School in Park Forest, Illinois in 1958 and went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky.
At the University of Kentucky he met is wife, Penny Peters. He leaves behind his two sons, Ric Figurell II and James Figurell and their wives Jonna and Dolly; brother, Ken Figurelli; sister, Diana Pennino; former wife, Penny; and 4 beloved grandchildren, Ricky, Gina, Ashley, and Tiffany.
Ric's life was filled with many adventures and career achievements. In his early years he was a talented musician and could be found playing saxophone with the Dorsey Brothers early in their career. He also mastered the piano, organ, and the clarinet. His professional career began with Sears & Roebuck running the candy department and set the record for the most fruitcakes ever sold by Sears. As he progressed, he ran the men's department and eventually managed the Sears Catalog department. From Sears he was recruited by a professional recruiter and took a job with Service Master as a franchise salesman. During that tenure, he was the #1 salesman in the United States for 12 months in a row and the #1 Salesman in the nation. He was then promoted to Regional Manager and recruited away again by Bristol Myers to become the Vice President of Domesticare. By this point he was considered the premier franchise doctor in the United States and was recruited by Precision Tune. He took this job when their franchise operations were losing $100,000 per month and successfully turned it around and helped owner Bill Childs sell the business for more than 50 million dollars. After the sale of Precision Tune, Ric started a brand new company for Wagner Paints selling home painting franchises in the United States under the name Wagner Professionals. After the start up of Wagner Professionals he decided to become an entrepreneur and started his own business, Tune Ups Plus. He started with one store in Mesquite, Texas and grew the business to include 8 locations in the DFW area and several more on the East Coast. That was the business that also gave birth to Candrell Car Care owned by his son Ric Figurell II today.
He pulled away from the business in the late 1990' s and retired to his high-rise apartment in the Bonaventure for a few years until he finally settled on his ranch in Ben Wheeler. He stocked the ranch with "grandkid bait" (horses, miniature horses, llamas, donkeys, ducks, and goats). He even stocked his pond with bass and catfish for his grandchildren to enjoy.
Throughout his life he was an avid reader, watched TV incessantly, wrote poetry, and completed a novel titled, "Candor's Price" .
He was loved and admired by his family and will be missed greatly!
