Richard Gardiner-McSwyny, age 74, formerly of NYC and Connecticut, a Naples resident since 1992 passed away on October 9, 2016. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 in the 13th Calvary, 1st Armored Division.
Richard was a gentleman of quick wit and generous spirit. He enjoyed meeting people, making friends wherever he paused to say hello. Richard was a storyteller at heart who loved entertaining people with his many fascinating stories of his interesting life. His twinkling eyes and bright smile will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Though unexpected, we can take comfort knowing Richard's passing was peaceful.
Richard is survived by his beloved godson, William Singer, his wife Kimberly and their three children; sister-in-law, Janice Mcswyny; two nieces, Dawn and Erin; nephew, Dale; four great nieces and one great nephew. Richard is predeceased by his brother, Dale Fowler
A memorial service will be held at Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Avenue North, Naples, FL on Saturday, October 22nd at 11:00am.
Interment will be private at Dale Cemetery, Ossining, NY

Richard was like a member of our family. He always shared stories, a few laughs, and delicious, homemade food when he came to visit. He had a sharp wit and a kind heart to balance it out. I will miss seeing him for the holidays and send my love to his family and friends during this difficult time.
