Uncle Neal was a kind and loving uncle to me. He was always taking pictures and when visiting with him I roared with laughter at some of these pictures. It was a delightful visit.

I knew Neal back in the early 1990's when I waitresses at a little place called Grace's Home Cooking on North Lamar. His name popped into my head the other day as I was recalling favorite customers from years ago. Neal would stop by once a day and if he wasn't ordering food, would get a cup of coffee and leave me $5...which was quite a bit back then. As I was a transplant to the area, with all my family being back in Massachusetts, he became a grandfather figure to me. Always sweet and kindly. The picture with him in the stripes is exactly how I remembered him. I loved listening to his stories and always got a kick out of the crew of guys that he would often hang out with. I would tease them saying that they were worse than a bunch of old gossipy ladies. The last time I saw him was when he stopped by my apartment in February 1992, after I had my son, and brought him a gift. Rest In Peace dear Neal...thank you for your kindness many years ago.
