A Graveside Service for Mr. Richard McClain will be held 3 PM, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Hill Crest Memorial Park with Pastor Calvin Hubbard officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1:30 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Richard was born April 9, 1936 in East Prairie, Missouri. He spent 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1976, making Bossier City, Louisiana his home. He also retired from the State of Louisiana as a culinary instructor at the Shreveport-Bossier Vocational and Technical Institute . Chef, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed his retirement touring the country he loved on his Honda Goldwing trike. He was a past member of the International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 years, Ramona H. McClain; son Richard D. McClain; daughter Debra M. Warner with husband Travis; sister Linda Furlong of Wentzville, MO; brother Donnie Coffer with wife Carolyn of East Prairie, MO; grandson Cole Purvis; step-children Paul Wellborn of Nashville, TN and Gay Estill of New Braunfels, TX; and his favorite aunt Edna Raye Parker.
The family would like to thank the staff of the NW La War Veterans Home and Northwest Regional Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Alzheimer's Research Association in his honor (www.alzra.org ).
