RICHARD SHERIDAN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 14, 2017.

Richard T (Dick) Sheridan, 96, widower of Ann (Graham) Sheridan of Old Saybrook CT, died peacefully on May 13, 2017 at his home with his daughters by his side. Richard was born Dec. 29, 1920 the son of Andrew T and Regina (Kelly) Sheridan in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended and graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul, MN. and enlisted in the Army Airforce during WWII. He was stationed at Biggs Airforce Base in Texas where he rose to the rank of Captain and was commander of B-29, very heavy bombers. After the war ended he joined civilian life as a territory sales representative for Josten's Rings, Rumpp Leather Goods, Gerber Legendary Blades and Binder Brother's Jewelry. His territory covered the New England states, where he met and married Ann Graham in Boston in 1950. Their first home was in Syracuse NY where they adopted their two daughters. In 1963 on the advice of a client, they moved to Old Saybrook CT to raise their daughters in an idyllic town. The opening of St. John's School began Dick's passion and dedication for serving the needs of the Church. He joined his wife Ann (Graham) Sheridan in eternity, along with his sister Helen and Dorothy; and his brothers Jack and Bob. He is survived by his daughters Patricia (Jerry) Taylor of FL. and Betsy (Jim) Melin of MT. He was a grandpa to 9 grandchildren: Kelly (Chad) Miller, John (Sarah Jean) Melin, Graham (Monica) Melin, Laura (Steve) Voss, Sarah (Chris) Iverson, Eliza Melin, Rachael (Woodrow) Thomas, Lilly Melin and James Melin. He was "Great Sheridan" to 12 Caden Miller; Adysyn Melin; Gus and Tanner Melin; Sam, Natania, Coulter and Henry Voss; Keith, Loralai, Max and baby Bob Iverson. Visitation will be at Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Rd Old Saybrook CT 06475 on Tuesday May 16, 2017 from 4:30pm to7:30pm. I only knew your father from church, he was the Good Shepard, taught me no matter how bad the weather was he would be at 7:30 mass, because of him I told myself if he can make mass in a 24 inch blizzard so can I.

I'll miss him every Sunday.

Our thoughts and prayers to the entire Sheridan family. Dick was a gentleman and worked with our family for many years from Thanksgiving to Christmas always giving his quick wit, genuine smile and exceptional service . We will always fondly remember his many years working with us at Binder Brothers as well. Sincerely, John Green
