Obituary

Our beloved husband and father passed away October 16, 2013. Richard was born in Portland and resided there all his life. He was born on October 29, 1926 and attended Holy Redeemer grade school and Benson Polytechnic High School. After high school he entered the military during World War II and after his discharge he was hired by Pacific Northwest Bell painting stripes at the auto pool parking garage for $136 a month. In 1947 he married Gerry Medak and together they had four children, Karin, David, Bill and Rick. Dick worked faithfully for PNB for almost 40 years. Our fondest memories are the yearly summer vacations at the Oregon coast....
Our fondest memories are the yearly summer vacations at the Oregon coast. On a very meager budget we had the time of our lives.
Upon retirement, Dick and Gerry spent their time camping with his brother and sister-in-law John and Joyce Medak. They visited many campsites throughout Oregon. They enjoyed fishing and bike riding and just seeing so many parts of the state he never saw as a child.
When he entered his advanced years and declining health set in, he was forced to slow down but fought it every step of the way. He epitomized a man of deep resolve, character and integrity. He will live in our hearts forever.
Our heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to the Kaiser Hospice team whose wonderful care and support will forever be appreciated.

"Our beloved uncle was always the kindest of gentle souls. He always had a bright hello for his nieces and nephews every time you would see him. We always..." Bob Medak (Portland, OR)
