Rick, it's been seven years and I still miss you. You were my best friend and truly my brother. We did a lot of crazy things back in the day. I miss you and wish we could be together again, running the streets of Long Beach and San Francisco in Crystal or Bubbles.

Uncle Rick, you truly were my favorite uncle. You always made me feel loved and special when I was around you. I was so happy when you and Aunt Fran moved back to Washington. It seemed like the time we had was so short. Thank you for being you. I will miss you more than you know but I know I will see you again some day. Until then, God bless. Love, Wendy Lynn

Rick was a good guy, I worked in the oil lab on the Monongahela then after me my ex wife worked with him and she liked him alot. He was like a father figure to alot people on the boat. Sometimes I think god calls home the good ones. May peace be with you.

Fran and to the Ayres' Family,

I am sorry to hear about Rick's passing. I had the honor of serving with Rick on "The World's Finest Oiler". I remember the times I would go to the Oil Lab and spend time together, especially during General Quarters. We would talk about the Navy, about friends and family. Rick is and will always be a true Shipmate. He will be standing the Eternal Watch and keeping an eye on his family, friends and shipmates. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Rick.

My Uncle Ricky..... Strong man, Navy man, Family Man, Honorable Man. Also a funny man. He told me that anything over 21 was no longer a birthday, it was an anniversary of your 21st birthday. I remember as a kid, when him and the family would come to visit, there would be love, laughter, dancing, crying, fun. He asked me to take care of his mother. I hope I am doing him proud. May you rest in eternal peace. And God Bless my Aunt Frances and Cousins Shawn and Patrick. I love you all.
