Richard was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Communications Specialist during combat operations of Grenada and Desert Shield/Storm. He also provided White House communications under President Ronald Reagan and at one time served in 82d Airborne. His friends in the Army, most notably 93d Signal Brigade became his extended family.
He was widely known to be a lover of autos and auto magazines. He truly loved his sons and will surely be missed by all including those at his recent position with Time Warner Cable of Arlington, TX.

"Mr. Bailey, you will be dearly missed. I enjoyed the small talk we had on a daily basis. Whether it be movie trivia or just to joke around. If anything..." Dustin Llamas (Fort Worth, TX)
