Richard F. Brown
Richard F. "Dick" Brown, 83, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 in his home, under the care of Hospice.
Born on July 4, 1927 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Margaret Priscilla (Miller) Brown.
He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1945 and remained active in helping to organize reunions.
He was a proud WWII Veteran of the US Navy, serving aboard the USS McKean in the South Pacific.
Dick retired from the B & O Chessie Railroad system after 37 years of employment.
He was a member for 62 years of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Martinsburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Brown, and a daughter-in-law, Carolyn "Necie" Brown.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Mary L. (Baker) Brown, a son, Richard Scott Brown of Martinsburg; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Brown and his wife Brenda, of Westminster, MD, and Edward Brown of Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Ashley Brown Stamper and Clinton Brown, both of San Diego, CA; three step-grandchildren, Anthony Parsons of Martinsburg, Jedale Parsons of Martinsburg, and Shawn Parsons of Hagerstown; four step- great-grandchildren, Logan Taylor, Skyler Parsons, Hunter Parsons, and A.J. Parsons, all of Martinsburg; a sister-in-law, Diane Brown of New Bern, NC, and long time friend and caregiver, Tina Allen.
Friends will be received Friday, April 1, 2011 from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM in Rosedale Funeral Home, Martinsburg. Pastor John Yost will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Rosedale Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 122 Waverly Court, Martinsburg, WV 25403.
