Obituary

Richard Eugene "Dickie" Bumpus, 62, of Falmouth passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Falmouth Hospital. Born in Topeka, KS, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Helen (Smith) Bumpus. A veteran of the United States Army, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. While stationed in Hawaii he along with his unit guarded the nerve gas enclosures on Johnston Island. Richard enjoyed cooking and had worked as a chef for various restaurants. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved his brothers. He also was an avid New England Patriots fan. He is survived by 3 sons, Rick Bumpus...
Richard Eugene "Dickie" Bumpus, 62, of Falmouth passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Falmouth Hospital.

Born in Topeka, KS, he was the son of the late Henry E. and Helen (Smith) Bumpus.

A veteran of the United States Army, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. While stationed in Hawaii he along with his unit guarded the nerve gas enclosures on Johnston Island.

Richard enjoyed cooking and had worked as a chef for various restaurants. He enjoyed spending time with his family and he loved his brothers. He also was an avid New England Patriots fan.

He is survived by 3 sons, Rick Bumpus of Brazil, Michael Bumpus of Falmouth and Mark Bumpus of Hyannis; 3 brothers, Henry Bumpus and his wife Beth Ann of Monument Beach, Gerald Bumpus and his wife Debbie of Wichita, KS and Michael Bumpus of Falmouth, MA; several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne. Visitation Monday 5 – 8 p.m. Interment with military honors rendered at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America 801 Eighteenth Street NW Washington, DC 20006 – 3517.
