Richard Ray Chambers, 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at a local medical center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00- 2:00p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Richard was born on July 9, 1951 in Jones County, Texas to John William and Nita Gann Chambers. He attended schools and then enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. Richard married Annett Johnson in 1972 and was employed in the oil field industry as a driller. He was of Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; a sister, Patsy Marshall; an uncle, Buddy Gann; and a cousin, Tommy Gann.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Annett Chambers; three sons, Charles Ray Chambers, Michael William Chambers, and Richard Lewis Chambers and wife, Helen; two daughters, Jennifer Winchip and husband, Anthony, and Kayla Chambers and fiancé, Tommy Rodriguez; a brother, Michael Lewis Chambers and wife, Ann; and nine grandchildren.
