Doug and I used to talk and joke around on the phone all the time. We sorta drifted away from talking on the phone the last couple of years. His wit, sensitivity, and quick humor will be missed by everyone. He knew when to be serious and when to joke around. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the many people that had the privilege of having Doug to touch their lives.

It was impossible to know Doug and not love him. He lit up the room wherever he went. There never has been a kinder, gentler soul. He always treated everybody he ever met like an old friend. I can't begin to guess how many lives he's touched. Our loss is truly Heaven's gain. Rest in joy and peace, my friend.

I was surprised and saddened. Its been years since I saw Doug although it seems like yesterday. If there was a get together however remote, Doug managed to get there.

I have known Doug since Jr.High(Signal Mtn.) My husband Randy has known him longer than that.We grew up with Doug, and spent many happy years together as friends,he became a family friend as well with our children, Hope and Brent, and then with Brents 15 and1/2 yr old daughter Brooke.'BROOKIE' is what Doug called her since she was a toddler..(and she still goes by that nickname) Brent and Doug became very close friends, shared many memories most involving music <3 Brent is very sad to have lost his buddy...OH, they even bought a black and tan hound dog together, named him "BUDDY LOVE'..and that dang dog was just as good friend as Doug,we all loved him too. Doug was a good hearted ,caring, giving man,and wanted nothing but the best for everyone he knew,Anyone who knew Doug loved him <3 He was thoughtful, full of laughs and good times, loved music and loved to play music, especially with, and for his friends. Mostly he loved his* family* .. 'he was their son, her brother, their uncle' ... "they were his home , his love, his life." You were loved by many Doug, never forgotten but forever missed <3 your friends, Randy and Kathy, Brent and Brookie <3

Doug you were truly a great friend to me during my worst times and you made the bad times good. I will miss you so much. Even though we would have times that we lost communication, I knew all I had to do was call and you would be there for me. My heart is breaking and I will miss you so much. Love you Doug.-Nora

Grew up with Doug. It is true that he always had a smile and a most memorable laugh. The zest for life that Doug had was enough for ten people. He will be missed.

Dear Bud, Clata, Haley, Alex, I am so very sorry for your loss! I love you all so much and I am sorry that I won't be able to be with you at Doug's Life Celebration. I will be out of town. I will miss knowing that he is up there on the mountain, but celebrate that he is in a far better place. He is free from his chair, although that did not slow him down. I know Jane is so happy to be reunited with her Douglas! Clata please call me when you can! (423) 413-1640. I will have my phone with me. Angie
