Richard L. DeForest, age 86 of Homer passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Allegiance Hospice Home in Jackson, Michigan. He was born in 1924 in Albion, Michigan to William and Nina Belle DeForest. In 1944 he married Vivian I. Burns who survives.

He was a life resident of the Homer-Albion area where he farmed most of his life. He worked for Michigan Milk Producers for 16 years, then at Mac Steel in Jackson for 14 years where he retired in 1988. He was a member of Countryside Baptist Church.

Richard is survived by:

Wife- Vivian DeForest of Homer

Son- Richard (Nora) DeForest of Illinois

Daughters- Ruth (Brian) Harrington of Brooklyn
Mary Lewis of Marshall
Connie (Paul) Hackworth of Homer
(15) Grandchildren
Several Great Grandchildren

Sister- Marie Jones of Albion

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Dawn Watkins in 1987, brothers Willis and Robert, sisters Dorothy Teachout and Helen Hazlett.

Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, July 10, 2011 from Noon – 1:00 P.M. at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. Funeral Service will be Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Holbrook officiating.
