Obituary

Mr. Richard Staples Evans, 65, of Greensboro, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 14, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 22, 2013 at Stevens Memorial Baptist Church, 3001 N. Church St. Greensboro. Surviving is his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara Evans and his loving son, Bryan; brother, Milton Evans of N. Billerica, MA; sister, Charlotte Hill of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Nelson and husband Tom of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Beverly Rachol of Greensboro, NC; nieces, nephews and cousins; aunt , Sarah Nicholson; and all of his fellow marines and other navy and army friends. ...

Surviving is his loving wife of 35 years, Barbara Evans and his loving son, Bryan; brother, Milton Evans of N. Billerica, MA; sister, Charlotte Hill of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Nelson and husband Tom of Asheboro, NC; sister-in-law, Beverly Rachol of Greensboro, NC; nieces, nephews and cousins; aunt , Sarah Nicholson; and all of his fellow marines and other navy and army friends.

Richard served in the US Marine Corp during the Viet Nam war. He was a member of Chapter 20 DAV, American Legion Post 386, PFC Terry C. Smith Detachment 1193, and the Greater Greensboro Marine Corp League Detachment 260. He worked with the Special Olympics of Guilford Cpunty and the North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
