Richard Fisher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 3, 2014.

Richard D. "Bud" Fisher, age 89, of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at Columbia Healthcare.

Mr. Fisher was born November 6, 1924 in Evansville to the late Frank and Hazel Fisher. He attended Reitz High School. Bud served in the United States Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of VFW Post #1114. He served on the Evansville Fire Department for 32 years and 8 months and during that time also worked for Kinder Moving and Storage during his time off. Bud wasn't happy unless he was working. He was also a member of the Firefighter's Athletic Club and the Retired Police and Fire Fighter's Club. He enjoyed being around horses and owned and operated Fisher's Riding Academy for several years.

Bud's hobby was gardening. He raised a big garden every year and enjoyed giving vegetables to his friends and neighbors.

Surviving Bud are his wife of 64 years, Wanda (Potts) Fisher; a daughter, Reba Fisher of Evansville; son, Dr. David (Joyce) Fisher of Santa Claus, IN; grandson, John David (Jacki) Fisher of St. Ann, MO; granddaughter, Annabelle (fiance', Jeremiah Zimmer) of Nicholasville, KY; step grandson, Brian (Ginger) Welp; two great grandsons, 2 step great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrow Fisher; sister-in-law, Martha Lee Fisher and sister, Delores Buente.

Funeral services will be private with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Chaplain John Lefler will preside and the Evansville Fire Department Honor Guard and Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct rites.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Evansville Fire Fighters Local #357 Honor Guard, 550 SE 8th Street, Evansville, IN 47711.
