Obituary

Lexington- Richard S. Gaddy, age 82, of Lexington, formerly Bloomington, passed away at his residence surrounded by family on June, 1, 2014. Born September 17, 1931, he was a son to the late Vern and Ella Worstell-Gaddy. He was a graduate of University High School in Normal. At the age of 17, Richard began working for Emmett-Scharf Electric before being drafted in the military in January 1952, honorably serving his country in the Korean War. Lexington- Richard S. Gaddy, age 82, of Lexington, formerly Bloomington, passed away at his residence surrounded by family on June, 1, 2014.

Born September 17, 1931, he was a son to the late Vern and Ella Worstell-Gaddy. He was a graduate of University High School in Normal. At the age of 17, Richard began working for Emmett-Scharf Electric before being drafted in the military in January 1952, honorably serving his country in the Korean War. Richard married Charlotte Dodson in 1955. He continued working as an electrician, opening Gaddy Electric and Excavating in 1970, and then started his family farm in 1976. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #197. Richard loved spending time with his family, and will be remembered as a dedicated Electrician for 65 years, as well as, his enjoyment working around the farm and timber surrounding his farm.

Survivors include two sons: Richard L. (Penelope) Gaddy of El Paso and Terry L. (Marilyn) Gaddy of Lexington; four grandchildren: Diane (Andy) Kraft, Brian (Elizabeth) Gaddy both of Lexington, and Kristina (Sirish) Mulpura of Miami, FL, and Amanda (Tom) Chapman of Benson; seven great-grandchildren: Ezekiel Gaddy, Ella Kraft, and Emily Gaddy, Gavin, Tommy, Kaitlyn, and Cody Chapman; one brother Jerry Gaddy of Lincoln, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte, and four brothers: John, Robert, Jack and Michael.

Visitation will be held Thursday June 5, 2014 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Northbridge Baptist Church, 2413 E. Ziebarth Rd, in Normal. Graveside services will be held Friday June 6, 2014 in Lexington Cemetery. Pastor Michael Sloan will officiate.

Memorials in Richard's memory may be made to a charity of the donors choosing.
