He is looking forward to being reunited with his dad, Danny Garrett, his brother Tony, his grandma and grandpa Herbert and Millie Holderman and his grandparents Gaye Sheehan and George Garrett.

Rick was such a special, unique man, so full of love and life and brought so much happiness to everyone he touched.

He also enjoyed many years of coaching and friendships made with the athletes, coaching staff, and everyone involved in The Louisville Flyers Special Olympics team along with his son.

Rick leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife Debbie (Burke) of 36 wonderful years, his children, whom he called his "triple blessing", Billy, Lisa (Jeremy) and Steve. He was so looking forward to being a Papa to his yet unborn, "special gift from God", his first grandchild, Averi Marie. His devoted mother, Sarah Garrett, cherished by his sisters and brother, Cathy Compton (Richard), Peggy Garrett and Tim Garrett (Frances). His dear mother and father-in-law Doris and Al Burke, brother-in-law John Burke, sister-in-law Karen Burke Rios (Donald) and dear aunt Pat Schneider (Bill). Numerous family and friends, especially his best buddy, Dave "Squeaky" Florence.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at 12 noon, in the chapel of Arch L. Heady at Resthaven, 4400 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 1-8p.m. at the funeral home and also on Wednesday after 9 a.m.
