Rita Campeau Crumhorn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the age of 88. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life. She was the cherished wife of the late John E. Crumhorn. Loving mother of Wayne, Connie and Lynne Crumhorn. Daughter of the late Lucius and Edna Foret Campeau. Sister of the late Edna Mae Boudreaux, Bessie Claudet, Beulah Schermer, Nolan Campeau, Daisy Campeau, Minnie Callaway, Elsie Rupe, Sadie Stewart and L.V. Campeau Jr. Proud grandmother of Leigh Stewart, Keith Stewart and Brad Rizzuto. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Special thanks to her niece Carolyn Harper.
Rita was a native of Lockport, LA and a longtime resident of Arabi, LA where she was a former Registrar of Voters for St. Bernard Parish. She was an avid ballroom dancer and loved spending time with her many friends at Jefferson Orleans. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved her friends and treasured her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, April 6th from 8:30AM – 11:30AM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 11:30AM. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
